My champagne's more expensive than your champagne... Decanter reports this morning that Pernod Ricard is to market a €1,000 a bottle champagne, so as to distinguish itself from the common herd of Krug, Dom Perignon, Cristal and so on. Relying on a brand to tell people what sort of person you think you may be is pretty gutless. But perhaps I'm just jealous of all those big, clever people who'll be going along to Toys 4 Big Boys with all their manly dosh to see whose champagne is bigger than whose.
